The Aura/Auric Field

What is the Aura?
The aura, also called the auric field or energy body, is an egg-shaped energy form that surrounds the physical body and usually extends 8 to 10 feet out. Distortions in its shape, the colour shades and designs within it are related to a person’s experiences and personality. Developing the ability to perceive the aura is a useful tool for anyone, but especially for those involved in the healing arts. The aura gives healers insight beyond the physical appearance.
The human auric or energy field is described as having two parts. The first relates to the subtle bodies. These are bands of energy that surround and penetrate the physical body. They work in conjunction with the Soul. The second part of the human energy field belongs to the emanations from the physical body. These emanations are electric, electromagnetic, heat, light, magnetic, and sound. Emanations come from the body, or are energy taken in that’s been transformed then is emitted.
Energetic Nature
Humans absorb the energy of other human beings and the energies of the world around them, including that of the Earth and its animals, flowers, plants, minerals, and trees. The four elements that give life, Air, Earth, Fire, and Water are all energies that are easily taken in by the physical body. These energies can bring healing on many levels.
Being in nature, or in contact with the Earth such as when gardening or walking bare feet strengthens our aura.
Everyone is uniquely different and has their own frequency and aura.
The cosmos, too, interacts with our auric field and may influence us in various ways. During the times of the full Moon, people often report feeling slightly overwhelmed or agitated. Empathic individuals are often affected by all the phases of the Moon, and by any major planetary shift.
Conscious Awareness
Knowing how our auric field interacts with other forces can help us understand our own self better, and help us cope when disturbances are occurring or imminent. Getting to know and staying aware of the subtle energies that affect our auric field, and tending to its integrity serves our overall wellbeing.
We can tell when our aura is weakened by how we react to outside stimuli. If we are easily bothered by the everyday noises and disturbances we’re surrounded with, or we feel low energetically, we should assume our aura is in need of attention. As mentioned previously, the people we interact with greatly affect our aura and vice versa.
Changes to our aura occur when we have strong emotional feelings, mental and spiritual responses, and physical reactions.
What is going on in our life, how we feel, and what we do are all things reflected in our aura.
Colour intensity varies throughout the day depending on what is happening.
Reflections in the Aura
The aura reflects the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual aspects of an individual with:
· tcolours;
he clarity and vibrancy of each colour;
shapes and their sizes found within it;
predominant colour/main feature of person’s life at the time; and
abundance of a particular colour shows pattern(s).
An abundance of green extending 4-6 feet from the body can indicate a period of growth and change lasting 4 to 6 months.
Energy Healing Practitioners
We perceive others’ auras through our own. We can think of it as a type of filter. This is why it’s a good idea to know our own aura before engaging in trying to see other people’s auric fields. If we have a predominantly green aura, the colour of the other person’s aura will be affected by the green of ours.
A relaxation meditation prior to attempting to perceive auras will help keep our gazing relaxed.
The cones and rods are sensitive nerve fibers that release chemicals to help us see colours. These are located at the back of the eyes. The more these are stimulated, the more light (subtle energies) we’re able to perceive.
· We see the aura with our physical eyes; or
· Intuitively, we bring the person/aura into our mind’s eye. We then inquire about predominant colour(s), locations, and what the colours mean at the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual levels.
There are positive and negative aspects to each colour. Reserve judgemental interpretations, but rather relate your observations and let the person decide what they resonate with.

Colour Shades of the Aura
The colours found in the aura have both positive and negative connotations—and will reveal with different shades—the state of an individual. Go with your first impression when you see a colour. Trust in your feelings.
Generally, there is more than one colour in a person’s aura.
Clear colours are best. Bright darker colours indicate a high energy state. Muddied or dense colours can be signs of imbalances and overactivity.
Get to know how combinations affect each other.
Generally, the colours yellow and white are the easiest colours to see surrounding a person’s body. Blue is another colour that’s easily perceived when someone is first starting to see auras.
